Letters of the Lybrook family, 1831-1863.

The collection consists of letters to Henley C. Lybrook, of Cass County, Mich., from family members and a friend in Virginia and Illinois, chiefly conveying personal and family news. Of interest are letters about the care of a mentally ill sister whom the family does not wish to place in an asylum. Other topics include the Virginia Constitutional Conventions of 1829-1830 and 1851; the Civil War and the fate of family members, both civilians and soldiers; and the acquittal of one David Lucas, on trial for mudering a peddler.
